Dan Wyson, CFP®

I did my undergraduate work at Brigham Young University. After obtaining my bachelor's degree, I went on to obtain my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification at The American College.

I have been a passionate student in the world of investing my whole life and have learned from my experiences that there are those who “invest” in the market and those who just “play” the market. I have chosen to avoid the latter.

My beautiful wife, Launa, is an accomplished recording artist, vocal instructor, and previously created and directed the Southern Utah Dixie Children's Choir. She continues to spend much of her spare time now writing and arranging music.

When I need a break from the stock market I have been known to head out to the airport, sometimes to go flying and often just to watch the planes land and take-off. At the age of seven my parents gave me a gas powered toy airplane for my birthday, and I have been hooked ever since. I love flying and I love the sense of freedom that comes with being a pilot. When I am flying I often think about the great people who have lived on earth through the ages and how most would have given all they had for just one chance to soar like the birds.

I find many similarities between flying an airplane and managing investments. Both require constant training and attention to detail. Both involve having a destination in mind with a plan on how to get there safely. Flying and investing offer wonderful freedoms, but as we all know, freedom brings great responsibility as well. As a pilot, or an investor, must be willing to take full responsibility for their decisions, and be prepared to change course if things do not go as planned. Life is full of turbulence, equipment failures, and sometimes sick or nervous passengers, but if it is well planned and executed properly, the ultimate destination can be reached safely. Like flying, I also find that in life, despite its challenges, nothing beats the beautiful views along the way.

Launa and I have a lovely family and though we still consider ourselves quite youthful, we have recently begun to notice the occasional grandchild popping up along the way. We think we are too young to be grandparents but we love the little kids just the same.

As can be imagined, the focus of my life is my family and over the years you may find several of my children working with me at Wyson Financial. The focus of my business life is the financial well-being of our client’s families. Being a husband, father and pilot all have taught me that proper planning is the key element to avoiding so many of the stresses in life. No one can avoid risk, no life is without stress, but proper planning goes a long ways towards making it all more enjoyable. I make every effort in my business life to help my clients follow the principles I have learned.

I must say however, that after many years of buying and selling investments, my wife, Launa, remains by far my greatest asset.
